Life changing Uganda trip

Life changing Uganda trip

Today is our last full day in Uganda, our trip has been another life changing experience. We have been at the school everyday interacting with the children and teachers. The highlights were joining in with a baking class and spending time reading to the kindergarten children. Today we will be painting the outside of the school with the P6 class (12 year olds) making the school smarter and a nice place to be.

The school that we support has shown remarkable growth since we sold our first bag of coffee in 2020. It has become a thriving hub of education for the local children, with the number of students increasing from 87 to an impressive 270 in recent weeks. Thanks to coffee we are able to support the hard work and dedication of the 17 primary teachers, 5 kindergarten teachers, and 10 additional staff members, all of whom love their job and are thrilled to get their salaries on time every month.

The heart of this school lies in its students, most of whom come from the local community of single mothers. Meeting these children personally allows us to understand the profound impact of our support. Education is the key that unlocks their potential, enabling them to dream big and aspire for a brighter future.

Despite this incredible progress, secondary education remains a challenge. While 17 children are set to move on to secondary school, we face the need to cover their school fees, which amounts to approximately £650 per month. Sadly the need for school fees hinders access to secondary education for the majority, with only one in four children currently having the means to pursue this level of schooling in Uganda. After working so hard to pass their primary exams it seems devastating that their education would not continue due to lack of funds. We want to change this.

Our long term vision is to build a secondary school next to The Early Learning, thus addressing the issue of both cost and accessibility. Someone once told me to think big!

Our commitment to selling quality coffee continues, as we believe we can continue to reach more children and transform lives. Our upcoming Christmas coffee release in November and a special gift box is a chance for our supporters to contribute to the project. With your continued support, we are not only able to provide you with a quality cup of coffee but also to make a real impact on the lives of the children and the community in Uganda.

Thank you for your support and love of coffee. Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

It’s so good to know about the blessing that God is pouring out on the school. May God continue to use you for His glory.
