Uganda here I come!

Uganda here I come!

February has been an incredible month for us as our online and wholesale customer base continues to grow .

I am looking forward to visiting Uganda on 11th March to meet with the children and teachers. This is the first time I’ve been able to travel to Uganda since we launched Kickstart Coffee. It’ll be wonderful to see the impact the sales of coffee is having. Children from the local community are coming to the school every day grateful they can learn in a safe, fun environment.

During my time in Uganda I will be meeting with the school’s senior management team to develop strategies for the school and community project which is continuing to grow with a focus of providing food, ensuring safe housing and providing education to the children. The majority of families living in the community are single mothers trying to provide for their children. Finding work is hard, so we are looking at providing business training for the women to set up their own enterprises.

I will be taking over 40 football kits for the children courtesy of Cambridge United Community Trust . We also received a generous donation from Rebecca McNally who collected over 40 ladies football tops. I am looking forward to sharing photos from my trip in my next blog.

My son Reuben, completed his rowing challenge and raised a fantastic £850 for the school. With the help of Laptops4learning I will now be taking two Dell laptops and two Samsung phones for the teachers. The remaining money will pay for a new slide for the children. There may also be some money left over for sugar cane!

Finally, with this month’s profits we have supported nine full time teachers and funded food for the community project which currently provides for 26 families.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for ordering our coffee.
