Coffee beans to school fees

Coffee beans to school fees

Following on from our previous blog, we wanted to let you know the impact your support is having.

The children in Uganda return to school in February 2021 following their summer holiday. With some of the profits from coffee sales last year we have been able to pay the fees to enable 7 children to attend secondary school for one term (4 of the girls are pictured above). Secondary aged children who don't have the means are unable to go to school unless they have sponsorship.  Fees are typically around £600 per year for secondary school; which we can raise from from selling approximately 240 250g bags of coffee.

Andrew (12) is one of the children we've been able to support. With the hope of finding a better life in Kampala, he fled his village in Northern Uganda on foot when both his parents passed away. He walked over 300km to Kampala where Agnes, the Early Learning School Principal found him and brought him to the school in Entebbe to live. Andrew is now safe with food and accommodation and attends a local secondary school. By choosing Kickstart Coffee you are funding this and his education as he looks to pursue his dream of becoming an engineer.

In our next blog we’ll let you know how we’re helping a teacher fulfil his ambitions.

Thank you for your continued support and sharing of our social media posts which help ensure we can continue to have this life changing impact.
