Rowing Success & Rubbish Collection Joy

Rowing Success & Rubbish Collection Joy

Thanks to the efforts of Reuben and his recent rowing challenge, we are thrilled to announce that he has raised an impressive £2,200! This will provide 401 much-needed rucksacks for the community children we support in Uganda.

The talented women tasked with sewing these rucksacks have already begun their work. We are hoping that the rucksacks will be ready in time for Hannah’s visit to Uganda in September.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported Reuben. Your support will make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children. We look forward to seeing the rucksacks in action, and Hannah is excited to share photos.

This month we have sent £6,569 in profits to our project to support essential needs such as salaries, food, and secondary school fees. While August is typically a slower month for us, we are fortunate to have the resources from our busier months to ensure we remain reliable in our giving.

As the children break for their summer holidays, teachers are taking this much-needed time to relax and recharge for the upcoming term. Meanwhile, the Primary 7 students are preparing for their primary exams. We are hopeful that all 22 students will pass, allowing them to transition to secondary school to continue their education.

In a move towards sustainability, the school has transitioned from burning rubbish to a weekly rubbish collection. This change not only reduces toxic smoke but also contributes to a cleaner environment for the staff and children and minimises encounters with local wildlife, particularly monkeys!

Looking ahead, we are excited about the prospect of employing a community social worker. This role will be vital in identifying and supporting the most vulnerable children in the community, especially those lacking evening meals. By providing additional food after school, we aim to enhance nutrition, which is essential for learning and development.

Thank you for choosing our coffee! We’re really grateful for every customer who supports us. Together, we’re making a real difference in the lives of children we support in Uganda.
